Lola Mae Schmidt, age 76, of Fair Haven died Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Kimball with Rev. Timothy Nerud officiating. Burial will follow at the Fair Haven Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Kimball and at the Church one hour prior to services. There will be a prayer service 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Lola Mae Schmidt was born July 20, 1936 at Morton, MN to the late Wilbert and Sophie (Reetz) Steinhaus. She married Howard E. Schmidt on April 11, 1953 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Fair Haven. She was a homemaker and worked many years in manufacturing the most recent being an assembly supervisor for Tool Products. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and their quilting group, her Bridge group, and the Red Hat Club. She enjoyed reading, sewing, traveling, and playing cards.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years Howard of Fair Haven, children Blane (Dorothy) of Rogers, Denise (Greg) Lenneman of St. Michael, Gwen (Schmidt) Morehead of Fair Haven, sister Dorothy (Rollin) Stuve of Fair Haven, brothers James (Kathleen) Steinhaus of Maple Lake, Robert (Lorie) Steinhaus, 11 grandchildren Jason (Dixie) Schmidt, Noah Schmidt, Jeremiah Schmidt, Tayva (Scott) Bancroft, Tessa Lenneman, Tegan Lenneman, Theo Lenneman, Taylor Hagen, Travis Hagen, Scott Bongaarts, John (Tricia) Bongaarts, 3 great grandchildren Lillian & Jon Bancroft and Ella Bongaarts.
The pallbearers will be grandsons and the organist will be Lynn Hoff. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Kimball.
