Donna J. Steichen, age 79, of Kimball died Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Heritage House of Kimball.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 7, 2011 at the Kimball United Methodist Church with Pastors Luke Nelson and Lloyd Melvie officiating.  Burial will follow at the Kimball Cemetery.  Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Kimball and at the Church one hour prior to services.  There will be a prayer service 7 p.m. Thursday.

Donna Jean Steichen was born on October 20, 1931 in Rockville to Martin Weisman and Eileen (Coulter) Weisman.  She lived most of her life in the Kimball area and graduated from Kimball High School in 1949.  Donna married her childhood sweetheart Joseph Steichen on October 24, 1951 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Kimball.  She worked at the State Bank of Kimball, Robinson Red Owl, Knaus Sausage House, and then for 31 years as a secretary to the Principal at Kimball Area Schools until retiring in 1997.  During her employment at Kimball Schools, Donna was very active in the sports programs and received numerous awards for her support of these programs.  In retirement Donna volunteered with the Foster Grandparent Program at Watkins Elementary School, Camp Friendship, Talahi Summer Program, and Annandale Elementary School.

She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Joe of Kimball, daughters Joyce (Doug) Quast of Kimball, Gloria (Charlie) Olson of South Haven, JoAnne (Chuck) Weiland of Mayer, ‘special sons’ Trent (Shelly) Greeley of Crosby & Ted (Annette) Greeley of St. Michael, sister in law Maxine Weisman, grandchildren Robin (Brandon) Bollingmo, Aaron Olson, Joey Hendrickson, Trent Olson, Kara Weiland, & Cody Weiland, and a great granddaughter Madeline Bollingmo.

The pallbearers will be Aaron Olson, Joey Hendrickson, Brandon Bollingmo, Cody Weiland, Trent Greeley, & Ted Greeley.  Trent Olson will be an honorary pallbearer.  Abby Salmon will be the organist and the arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Kimball.  The family wishes to acknowledge the kind care Donna received from the staff of Heritage House of Kimball and Heartland Hospice.
