Gregory Russell Bomsta

January 12, 1956 ~ August 24, 2017 (age 61)

Greg R. Bomsta, age 61, of Kimball died peacefully on August 24, 2017, as God embraced him and held his family’s hands. Cancer may have reared its ugly head, but God raised his loving arms.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the Annandale Evangelical Free Church, Annandale with the Pastor Dennis Johnson and Pastor Jeff Droogsma officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Gregory Russell “Greg” Bomsta was born January 12, 1956 in Minneapolis to Russell B. and Amelia E. (Boomgaarden) Bomsta. Greg graduated from Edina East High School with the class of 1974. Greg was united in marriage to Nancy Hegnauer on August 5, 1978 in Minneapolis. Greg worked construction as well as starting his own business. This led him to the City of Edina where he was the Building Inspector for 29 years. Greg’s life was full of adventure as he enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and his Harleys. In 2011 Greg was Baptized and gave his heart and soul to Jesus. Greg received much joy from studying and sharing his faith. In 2014 Greg’s dream came true as God led him to farming. While Greg’s dream here is closed, God’s plan has just begun.

Greg is survived by his wife Nancy of Kimball; son Daniel (Rachael) of Kimball and daughter Julie (Troy) Palas of Monticello; sisters Diane Bomsta of Edina and Carolyn (David) Levitt of St. Paul; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Russell and Amelia Bomsta; and brother Larry Bomsta.
