Dianne L. Messina, age 70, of Duluth died Friday, December 26, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by her loving family after a brief battle with cancer.

Dianne L. Messina was born on November 23, 1938 in Duluth to Stanley & Helen (Galteau) Roginski. She was a 1956 graduate of St. Jean the Baptiste High School and married Dominic "Dobby" Messina on May 18, 1957. She was a homemaker and pull-tab operator at Country Lanes. Dianne loved to winter in Arizona; she enjoyed crossword puzzles, her bear collection, reading, bingo, keno, and playing poker machines in Laughlin, NV. Her greatest joy was being with her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Dominic "Dobby" of Duluth; children, Toni Hamski (Tom Kasell) of Duluth, Michael (Mary) of Maple Lake, Mark (Holly) of Minneapolis; eight grandchildren, Brian & Steven Hamski, Michael, Anthony, Dominic, Joshua, Derek, & Stephanie Messina; sister, Joyce (Herman "Bud") Boman of Duluth; brothers in law, Rev. Michael F. Messina, Jr. (Sandy) of Ocala, FL, Richard Messina (Cathy) of St. Paul; sisters in law, Michelle Herbst (John) of Rock Valley, IA, Karen Messina of Laughlin, NV; also several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Shirley Riner & Adele Lomanto.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday with Funeral Services 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 30 at First Memorial Funeral Chapel, Duluth with Reverend Michael F. Messina, Jr. officiating. Entombment will be at Sunrise Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to St. Luke's Hospice.

The pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Brian & Steven Hamski, Michael, Anthony, Dominic, Joshua, Derek, and Stephanie Messina. Ron Koivisto, guitarist and John Seguin, vocalist will provide the music for the service.
