I knew Walt while we were stationed at Dyess, '85-89. Our shop was always trying to find pranks to play on Shop Chief Walt. We glued his coffee cup to his desk one morning. Another time we unscrewed the telephone mouthpiece and took the microphone element out of it so someone calling him couldn't hear him. Another time we came up with an imaginary award and he thought we were serious. Walt was a great guy with a crazy sense of humor. I didn't have his street address in Minnesota but sent him a couple of cards or letters after he retired. I wonder if he ever got them. I am so sorry you lost him so soon.

Uncle Walt,
thank you so much for some of the greatest memories I hold close to my heart. You have always been an example to me of a Man and Father when I needed one most in my life. And you still remain one of the greatest men I've had the pleasure to know. You are always remembered and never forgotten. Thank you for always playing "Wings" in your VW Wagon in Altus! I love you Uncle Walt. -Richard

After the whirlwind of decisions... My hope is you'll have time to focus on the good times, and warm memories.
I know I will always remember Walt as the kind, smiling, and caring man who gave the best hugs. I'm thankful he and Sally took such great care of Caroline..(my favorite auntie). And I'm thankful they have been a part of my extended family ! Love you all, with sincere sympathy, Teri

I am sorry that I didn't get over to see Walter before he past on. I met him at Foam Fabricaters where I did a lot of electrical wiring. Walter was and, IS a great person! After I had a stroke he talked to me and, pushed me on to get better many times with a nice smile. Truly a stand up person! I have no excuses for not talking with him before he departed. Rest in Peace my friend. You ARE in a better place now. Sally, my heart goes out to you.

To Sally & Stella & Family
I am so sorry to hear that Walter aka "Spoon" has left us. He was one of the first to greet me when I arrived at RAF Bentwaters 1973. And a good friend I made for life. We shared many a day on the flight line. He will be missed . But not forgotten.
A candle was lit by much love and thinking of you all, love from us all xx
