The Latour Family,

I am saddened to hear the loss of your Husband, Dad, and Grandfather. Butch was a loved man in our community.
I have many memories of Butch as a kid. I cannot think of time I saw him sitting down and relaxing. He was a work horse and was always getting things done around the house or on the farm. Of course, there were those occasional corrections he had to give Todd and I for our daily shenanigans! I will always remember the kindness he showed my Mother over the years.
Butch, you will be missed! And thank you for defending our country!!

Our sincere condolences to your family.

Darrin, Angie, Noah and Avery Stuhr

God looked around his garden
And found an empty place,
He then looked down upon earth
And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you
And lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering
He knew that you were in pain.
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb.
So he closed your weary eyelids
And whispered, "Peace be Thine".
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn't go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.

Dad,
Sunday we were looking through old pictures with Mom and you did live your life and a good one it was, we laughed and laughed, man you loved to fish and had many, many good friends. I do regret that my career path separated us for about…oh….20+ years. I do know that you understood and I am comforted with the time we did spend together. The last couple of years were tough but you were a fighter right to the bitter end. I loved making you laugh and will really miss that. You lived a simple life and were always the man behind the curtain never wanting to be in the spotlight and loved a good laugh. You didn’t stray very far from your surroundings, unless it was for a fishing trip then there were no boundaries. You were definitely small town people, I will never forget when I was stationed in Alaska you and Mom came to visit……….on a plane!! You wanted a good camera for pictures, I told you to buy a camera from Wal-Mart use it, and if you didn’t like it keep the receipt and return it to Wal-Mart when you got home……….you looked at me like I was crazy, chuckled and said “how the he** can I return it at home if I buy it in Alaska”, or the time we went to Batteries Plus in St Cloud you said “Damn now St Could has a Dollar General” too funny. What I will remember most is your unconditional love for your family, especially your grandkids; in your eyes they could do no wrong. You would give the shirt off your back to anyone who needed it, you never expected much from anyone but really appreciated what you received. On our last Sunday drive together we drove to Grandma and Grandpa’s farm and I said Grandma’s house is gone, you asked where she went, now you know as I’m sure your with Grandma, Grandpa, Cletus, John, Doug and Bernice and your all laughing having a good time, Cletus in his unforgettable laugh probably asked what took you so long and John is trying to get a card game going. Know that the love of your life (not the four legged one) is taken care of; well I guess they both are. You will be missed, I love you.
RIP Dad.

In Honor of your father and mine - both who served honorable in the USN.
The Old Salt. A Navy Veteran Funeral Tribute by Mac McGovern, Pensacola, FL

The Old Salt was a special man who came along in a time when he was needed most.
A time that is now passed for Old Salt. When men believed and sacrificed, when heroes walked the earth in mass. When patriotism was not just a word but, by what men lived and judged the worth of each, a man who lived a life most of us cannot comprehend. An era now gone as this warriors tour of duty ends at this station, and begins anew in the heavenly fleet.
Sail on Sailor into your unaccompanied tour, we salute you. What greater honor, that when a man moves forward, he leaves behind in each of us the best of what he was. A defender, protector, supporter, victor, a warrior, the last of the breed from an era when ships were made of wood and men were made of steel. The Old Salt has reported for duty that takes him away from us for now. Those of us who remain behind, remember, and will continue to remember, because he now resides forever in our hearts.

As I look up at night, I envision The Old Salt, a beret draped just above the eye, as he draws upon his pipe, quietly he waits. The guardian of heaven’s gate.

You always loved your family and, told me great strories growing up! Every time I asked how your wife was and, a smile came to your face and, you said, " she's a Saint".
