Jonathan M. Welter, age 63, of Annandale, died Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at his home surrounded by the love and care of his family while receiving hospice care.

Memorial Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale with Rev. Dave Nelson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

Jonathan Michael Welter was born January 9, 1952 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Norbert and Valerie (Kopp) Welter. He grew up with his family in Bloomington and graduated from Bloomington Kennedy High School with the class of 1970. Jon went on to attend Central Lakes College where he obtained his degree and began his career as a heavy equipment operator. On October 18, 1986 Jon was united in marriage to Sheryl Ann Gaffrey. Jon worked at various locations and projects as a member of the International Union of Operator Engineers Local 49, including Stocker Excavating. In his spare time, Jon enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and motorcycling. Many times, these were Jon’s favorite hobbies as they included time he was able to spend with his son, Tony, and many dear friends. Jon’s greatest enjoyment was the time he was able to spend to with his wife, son, and adoring grandchildren.

Jon is survived by his wife of  28 years, Sheryl of Annandale; son, Anton (Andrea) Welter of Annandale; 5 grandchildren, Kaiden, Hannah, Tristan, Elijah and Zachary; sister, Linnea (Robert) Petterson Rowe; a niece, nephew, other family members and numerous friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joel.
