Bernice E. Schermer, age 80, of Annandale died Sunday, October 16, 2016, at Quiet Oaks Hospice House, St. Cloud.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 21, 2016, at Silver Creek Community Church with Pastor Luke Baehr officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Maple Lake. Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. A prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral chapel.
Bernice Eleanor Schermer was born July 2, 1936, in Hanover to Benjamen and Edna (Harff) Weese. She graduated from Buffalo High School with the Class of 1955. On June 25, 1955, Bernice was united in marriage to Norman Neal Schermer at Silver Creek Reformed Church. She worked as a Pizza Maker at Bernatellos Pizza in Maple Lake for 15 years and as a farmer. Bernice was a member of the Wright County Saddle Club since 1966, was a 4-H leader from 1970-1974, and served on the Wright County Fair Board of Directors as President, Vice President, Secretary, and Director at Large. In 2009, Bernice was awarded with the Aquatennial Commodore Award. She enjoyed reading, embroidering, sewing, playing cards, flower and vegetable gardening, watching television, and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her children Marsha Ziebarth of St. Cloud, Kevin (Kim) of Buffalo, Dale (Jean) of South Haven, and Gary of Lake Park; eight grandchildren Mark, Mike, Alexis, Rebecca, and Ethan Schermer, Shelley Hartmann, Melissa and Matthew Ziebarth; nine great grandchildren Kennedie, Tristin, Tyler, Trevor, Weston, and Lilly Schermer, Olivia and Joshua Hartmann, and Adrian Ziebarth; brother Ken (Roxie) Weese of Buffalo; brothers-in-law Keith, Jim, and Larry Schermer, and Fred Polinder; and sister-in-law Ora Mae Weidama of Brooklyn Park. She is preceded in death by her parents Benjamen and Edna Weese; husband Norman Schermer; sister Doris Polinder; and sister-in-law Kathy Schermer.
Bernice’s grandchildren will serve as the casket bearers. The honorary casket bearers will be Sally Schermer, Gloria Triebwasser and Danielle Endberg. The music will be provided by Don DeBoer, Linda Veches, and Michelle Kivi. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
