No matter what you choose…

… cremation is simply a form of final disposition. It’s the other things you do that determine whether a final tribute is meaningful, healing, personalized, and exactly what your family needs to grieve.

Direct Cremation

Direct cremation is cremation without any type of service.

  • Preparation and transfer of the deceased
  • Services of a funeral director
  • Online obituary
  • Options for cremated remains

Cremation with Memorial Service

A memorial service is any formal service that is held without the presence of the body. Memorial services often follow cremation, burial, or entombment. A public or private viewing is still an option with memorial services.

  • Preparation and transfer of the deceased
  • Services of a funeral director
  • Online obituary
  • Options for cremated remains
  • Gathering of friends and family
  • Reception after service

Cremation with

Funeral Service

A traditional cremation service is similar to a traditional funeral service, except that cremation takes place after the service instead of burial. Rental caskets or cremation caskets are available for public visitations. There are many options in the final disposition of the cremated remains, including burial, entombment, scattering, or keeping the cremated remains privately.

  • Preparation and transfer of the deceased
  • Services of a funeral director
  • Online obituary
  • Options for cremated remains
  • Gathering of friends and family
  • Reception after service
  • Embalming and preparation of the body
  • Viewing & rental casket

Graveside Service

When a graveside service is selected, the formal service is held at a cemetery instead of at a church or funeral home. A viewing, either private or public, may or may not be done before graveside services.

Alkaline Hydrolysis (Water Cremation)

A new form of cremation that is now available is water-based cremation, or alkaline hydrolysis. This form of cremation is much more friendly to the environment then flame based cremation. Like flame cremation, water cremation can occur before or after a service, before or after a viewing, or without any service.

Life Tribute Celebrants

Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services offers trained celebrants to assist in creating a meaningful ceremony. Celebrants meet with the family and build a service from the ground up, using no template or format, allowing you the option to have a truly personal service. Celebrants may take part in a service instead of a minister or may work with a minister; the choice is yours.

Our services include but are not limited to...

  • Body Donation

Body donation is the donation of the body to a medical institution for educational purposes. Even when body donation is selected, you and your family can still have a funeral service, memorial service, and viewing of the body.

  • Organ and Tissue Donation

Donating organs and tissue for transplant has no effect on the type of service that is available. Organ and tissue donation is usually completed in a tissue procurement agency's facilities or at a hospital by a tissue procurement agency before the body enters our care.

  • Death Away From Home

When a death occurs away from home, we can help. We are experienced in bringing home the bodies of individuals who have died while away. The main thing to remember is to call us so that we can arrange all the details for you from here. This eliminates a lot of the confusion, stress, and excess expense of bringing your family member home.

  • Traditional Embalming

Embalming is the process of disinfecting and preserving the human body. This process typically uses formalin as a preservative, allowing for flexibility in scheduling services.

  • Green Embalming

Green embalming is the process of disinfecting and preserving of the human body short-term without the use of chemicals that may harm the environment. This process uses essential oils as a disinfectant and preservative.

  • Refrigeration

Refrigeration allows for extra time after a death occurs before cremation or burial when embalming is not desired. Minnesota law requires that without the use of refrigeration, cremation, burial, or embalming must occur within 72 hours of the death. With refrigeration, that time is extended to 120 hours. This allows time for out-of-town family the opportunity to be present for burial or to view their loved one prior to cremation.

Why is it important to have a meaningful, healing, and personalized funeral service?

Meaningful - When something has meaning, it has deeper purpose, deeper poignancy. By intentionally creating a meaningful service, you allow mourners - family, friends, neighbors - to say goodbye in a way that will help them heal and bring peace and comfort for years to come.

Healing - After the death of someone loved, you will experience feelings of grief. These emotions look different from person to person (sadness, anger, guilt, regret, shock, disbelief), but a meaningful service can help bring healing and comfort to a hurting heart.

Personalized - Above all, it’s essential to personalize a funeral service. Without personalization, you cannot create meaning or facilitate healing. Without personalization, you get a cookie-cutter experience instead of a one-of-a-kind final tribute.

Together, all three - meaningful, healing, and personalized - come together to create a truly unique funeral experience that will heal hurts, touch hearts, and help you say goodbye to a truly unique and irreplaceable person.
