    Leland M. Novotne, age 87, of Annandale died Sunday, October 4, 2015 at his home on Clearwater Lake.

    Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior to the funeral service, Thursday, at the church.  Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Annandale United Methodist Church, Annandale, with Rev. Ruth Hograbe officiating.  Burial will be 12:00 p.m., Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.  Memorials are preferred to the Annandale United Methodist Church.

    Leland Merrill Novotne was born October 1, 1928 in Rochester to Frank and Hattie (Batdorf) Novotne.  He graduated from Rochester High School with the Class of 1946 and continued his education at Rochester Junior College.  Leland served his country with the Minnesota Army National Guard in the Korean War; he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Combat Infantryman Badge.  He was united in marriage to Doris Winters on June 27, 1950 at United Brethren Church in Rochester and she preceded him in death on August 8, 1990.  On May 18, 1991, Leland was married to Viola Winters at Annandale United Methodist Church in Annandale.  He worked as a milk delivery man for Rochester Dairy and for the City of Rochester in street maintenance.  Leland was a member of the Annandale United Methodist Church and the Clearwater Lake Association.  He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting and telling jokes.  In retirement, Leland enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, Alaska, the Black Hills and Mexico.  He loved the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.

    He is survived by his wife Viola; children Scott (Gina) Novotne of Lake Wood Ranch, FL, Jill (Stephen) Burt of Winona, Lynn (Paul) Turley of Mayer, AZ, Julie (Lee) Aungst-Collins of Phoenix, AZ, Gail (Larry) Aungst of Phoenix, AZ and Kristin Winters of Maple Grove; daughter-in-law Michele Novotne; brother Marvin (Mary Ann) Novotne of Rochester; 23 grandchildren Christopher, Kinsey, Zachary, Jacob, David, Josie, Ben, Jamie, Shannon, Anthony, Alicia, Jocelyn, Megan, Paula, John, Melissa, Amy, Alyssa, Cassandra, Ariel, Ali, Amber and Tyler; 12 great grandchildren Magdalene, Berlin, Kyla, Silas, Declan, Greyson, Kristen, Nicholas, Zachary, Thomas, Samuel and Isabella; and 2 great great grandchildren Naudia and Colten. He is preceded in death by his first wife Doris Novotne; son Ted Novotne and brothers Vernon, Kenneth and Lloyd Novotne.

    The pallbearers will be Ben Burt, Christopher Novotne, Bruce Novotne, Zachary Postma, Tyler Winters and Anthony Novotne.  Michael Deiss will provide the music for the service.  Military honors will be provided by the Minnesota National Guard Honor Guard.  Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
