We'd like to extend our sincere sympathies to the entire Kunkel family. You don't know us, but Zach hung out in Glencoe with our son, Garret, quite often before he left for California. Those boys spent many hours, along with Peter, John and Parker, playing video games. Zach was always polite, and just an all around nice kid when he was at our house. Although I know we can't begin to know what you're going through, we can only imagine the terrible loss of a child. Especially now during the holiday season. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all...

Brenda - I cannot pretend to know how difficult Zach's death is for you. We were deeply saddened to learn of his passing. We know how special your kids are to you, and I just want to say that Zach is a young man to be so proud of. It's not easy to earn the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor that signified his status as a Marine. It is true that only a few are given that distinct honor. When a young Marine dies those of us who know the Marine's Hymn know understand that maybe God had another purpose for him. The last two lines of the Marine's Hymn spells it out: "If the Army and the Navy ever look on Heaven's scene they will find the streets are guarded by United States Marines." Our thoughts and prayers are with you and yours, Brenda.
