Wallace Gunnary Obituary

Wallace "Wally" Gunnary, age 84, of Annandale, died Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Parkview Care Center in Buffalo from complications with COVID-19.

Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 8, 2021 at Good Shepherd Free Lutheran Church in Cokato with Rev. Mark Olson officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, French Lake. A walk-through visitation will be held from 9:45-10:45 am at the church. Services will be livestreamed on the funeral home website and on the church's website. Masking, distancing and capacity guidelines will be followed at all services.

Wallace William Gunnary was born September 20, 1936 in Annandale to Emil and Esther (Enbysk) Gunnary. He grew up in French Lake Township and graduated from Annandale High School with the Class of 1954. On October 6, 1973, he was united in Marriage to Barbara Louise Heddens. Wally farmed until 1989, when he began working for ISD 742 at St. Cloud Tech High School as a custodian; he retired in 2006. Wally was a member of Good Shepherd Free Lutheran Church in Cokato. He loved the joy that dancing can provide. In 1968, he was a Poka Champion. He taught dance lessons with his wife, Barb and even square danced on roller skates.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Annandale; children, Lori (Peter) Piram of Maple Lake, Corey Gunnary of Waverly, Kelvin Gunnary of Monticello, Mary (Larry) Feltman of Welcome and William Gunnary of Cokato; six grandchildren, Jessica (Andy) Dupont, Tom (Sophie) Piram, Dillon Feltman, Keith Feltman, Kyle Feltman and Averi Hausladen; eight great grandchildren, Alix, Ayden and Harlee Dupont, Roman, Holland and Margot Piram, Marschel and Payton Feltman; sister, Theodora "Teddy" Kothe of South Haven; brother-in-law, Sid Goemer of Hutchinson; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Esther Gunnary; sisters, Phyllis Hoecker, Helen Paterson, Celia Hopkins, Jean Ritchie and Josie Goemer; and brothers, Thomas, James and Benjamin Gunnary.

Memorials are preferred to Good Shepherd Free Lutheran Church of Cokato. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
