Veronica A. Riley, age 87, of Maple Lake, formerly of Haines City, FL and Syracuse, NY, died peacefully at Lake Ridge Oasis in Buffalo on Sunday, November 28, 2021, surrounded by her family.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Maple Lake with visitation one hour prior to the service. Fr. Kevin Magner will preside. Burial will take place at a later date at Onondaga County Veteran's Cemetery in Camillus, NY. The funeral will be live-streamed on the funeral home website.
Veronica Alice Rutkowski was born in Pomfret, NY, the daughter of the late Marion (Hayes) and Vincent Rutkowski. Ronnie graduated from Brocton Central High School in Brocton, NY with the Class of 1951. She worked in accounts receivable until she married the love of her life, James Riley, in 1960. They made their home in Syracuse, NY. In retirement, they traveled by motor home for four years before settling at the Sweetwater Golf and Tennis Club in Haines City, FL. They most recently lived with their daughter's family in Maple Lake, MN. Among Ronnie's many passions and accomplishments, she was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, seamstress, traveler and painter.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, James; daughters, Kathleen Riley (Mark Reed) of Asheboro, NC and Patricia Riley (Chris Lodermeier) of Maple Lake; son, Daniel Riley of Baldwinsville, NY; grandchildren, McKenna and Kyra Reed, Madison (Matt) DelFuoco, Natasha and Ryne Lodermeier; great-granddaughter, Colbie DelFuoco; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Vincent, Jr. and James Rutkowski; sisters, Frances Goodloe and Joan Kondzielski; and great-granddaughter, Brenn Alice Riley.
