Thomas Robert Tarbox, age 76, of Maple Lake, formerly of Edina, passed away peacefully with members of his family by his side after a long battle with various health complications on Sunday, August 6, 2023.
Funeral Liturgy will be held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale with visitation one hour prior to the service. A reception will follow at The V in Maple Lake. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Monticello.
Thomas Robert Tarbox was born October 11, 1946, in St. Paul, Minnesota to Robert and Katharine (Meier) Tarbox. He grew up in the Minneapolis area and was a 1965 graduate of The Blake School. He furthered his education at Carleton College graduating in 1969. He then obtained his law degree from the University of Minnesota in 1972. Tom was a retired Commander in the United States Navy, Judge Advocate General. He went on to practice law in Minneapolis for First Bank and then in private practice in the Wright County, Minnesota area. Tom loved his family and boating on Maple Lake. He was kind in conversation with many thoughtful questions and always recognizable with his distinct hats.
He is survived by his wife, Krista Elsenpeter Tarbox of Maple Lake; son, Ned (Megan) Tarbox of Edina, MN; daughter, Sarah (Eric) Ratner of Carmel, IN; grandchildren, Calvin and Ruby Tarbox, and Sam, Suzanne, and Stella Ratner; step-children in the Maple Lake area, Jim (Jean) Elsenpeter, Sarah (Adam) Goelz, Susie (John) Peterson, Dan (Erica) Elsenpeter, Katie Schmidt, Carmen (Matt) Rudolph, Luke (Liz) Elsenpeter and Anne (Carl) Pribyl; 32 more grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann (Jim) Birchall of Birmingham, AL and Kathy (John) Ruppert of Denver, CO; and other family members and friends. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Caroline Bates.
