Thomas A. Corcoran, age 84, of Maple Lake, died with his family at his side at his home on May 31, 2018.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Maple Lake with Fr. John Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Timothy Catholic Cemetery in Maple Lake. Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. on Monday and 9-10 a.m. on Tuesday, both at the funeral chapel. A prayer service will held 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral chapel.
Thomas Arnold Corcoran was born to William and Mary (Meredith) Corcoran on October 4, 1933 at home in Horton Township, Stevens County. He grew up in Sedan. Tom enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country in the Korean War from 1952 until 1956. On June 4, 1955, he was united in marriage to Sharon Rae Wiley in St. Anthony. They lived in Coon Rapids, Farmington and Burnsville prior to settling in Maple Lake in 1983. Tom worked for The Canteen Company in Richfield as a repairman for vending machines. He was a member of the Maple Lake VFW Post 7664, Maple Lake American Legion Post 131, Military Order of the Cootie, Minnesota Bluegrass and Old-Time Music Association and St. Timothy Catholic Church. Tom enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, playing poker, snowmobiling and four wheeling. Music was important to Tom and he enjoyed playing the banjo, guitar and mandolin. He loved his family, grandkids and great grandkids.
He is survived by his children Lonnie (Juvie) of Phoenix, AZ, Sally (Willie) Braddy of Savage, Danny of Maple Lake, Connie (Brad) Brandt of New Prague, Kelley (Todd) Knickerbocker of St. Cloud and Susie (Jeff) Carlson of Shakopee; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; brother William (Harriet) of Minneapolis; sister-in-law Dolores; brother-in-law Wilfred Woida; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; and fourteen brothers and sisters.
The casket bearers will be Bob and Jim Enfield, Lonnie and Mike Soltys, Andy and Carl Amsler. The Resurrection Choir and Marge Pavlik will provide the music for the service. The U.S. Navy Honor Guard and the joint Honor Guard of the Maple Lake VFW and American Legion will provide military honors. Mike Breidenbach will provide Bagpipes at the cemetery.
