Stanley Otto Obituary

Stanley W. Otto, age 82, of South Haven, died Monday, October 19, 2020 surrounded by family at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Private family services will be held.

Stanley William Otto was born January 14, 1938 in Glencoe, Minnesota to Gilbert and Ella (Gutknecht) Otto. Stan spent the first ten years of his life in Glencoe, before moving with his family to the Annandale area. Stan attended school in Annandale, graduating with the Class of 1956. Following his graduation, Stan honorably served his country in the United States Navy. On December 21, 1965, Stan was united in marriage to Helen Milliner. They made their home on Clearwater Lake, near Annandale, where they raised their two sons. Stan worked for Lakedale Telephone Company for 43 years as a plant engineer before retiring in 1999. Stan was a member of the Annandale Lions Club where he was active with many projects, and the Clearwater Lake Association, where he served on the board, helped plan the picnic, and took part in treating the lake. He was also a proud member of Pheasants Forever and the NRA. In his younger years, Stan played softball, with much of the time spent in left field. Time with his family was always treasured by Stan, whether it be hunting and fishing with his boys, or simply being in the presence of his four granddaughters, who he deeply adored. Stan will be remembered as a man who always had a smile and a good thing to say about others. He was a hard worker who never missed a chance to lend a helping hand.

Stan is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Helen of South Haven; sons, Erich (Jodi) and Jared (Anne), all of South Haven; 4 granddaughters, Megan, Madi, Abbey, and Olivia; brothers, William (LuAnn) of Lake City, James (Sandy) of Annandale, and Ron (Evelyn) of Annandale; and his nieces, nephews, other family members, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
