Scott Thayer Obituary

Scott D. Thayer, age 87, of Annandale, died Monday, April 6, 2020 at Quiet Oaks Hospice House in St. Augusta.

No services will be held. You may show your support by leaving a message on the online Tribute Wall, sending a card to the family, or sending a memorial to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Cards sent to the funeral home will be forwarded to the family.

Scott Dana Thayer was born June 4, 1932 in Breckenridge, Minnesota to Lester "Tak" and Opal (Bucham) Thayer. He graduated from Glenwood High School with the Class of 1950. He continued his education at North Dakota State University, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree. On May 25, 1961, Scott was united in marriage to Joan Audree Munson in North Dakota. They lived in Fargo, prior to moving for a short time to the shores of Lake Francis near South Haven, Minnesota. They loved lake life, living for over fifty years on Clearwater Lake near Annandale.

Scott was an English teacher at Kimball High School for many years. He also taught driver's training and coached golf. He loved to share his knowledge with the students in the classroom, on the golf course, in a vehicle or on the basketball court.

Scott is survived by his wife, Joan; daughters, Vaunnie Thayer of Minneapolis and Stacey Dieken of Fort Meyers, FL; grandchildren, Matthew, Anthony and Hannah Fox, Anna and Zack Roth, Jordan and Taylor Dieken; and great grandchildren, Ryder Dieken and Sofia Dieken. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kim Fox; brother, Donald Thayer; and sister, Gwen Thayer.
