Robert "Bob" Jacobs, age 92, of Cold Spring, died Thursday, August 27, 2020 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Kimball with Rev. David Milz officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Monday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Kimball and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Physical distancing, capacity limitations and universal masking will be observed at the funeral home and at the church. Services will be livestreamed for those that are unable to attend.
Robert Emil Jacobs was born August 25, 1928 in Wheaton, Minnesota to Emil and Anna (Nachtigal) Jacobs. Bob grew up on the family farm and attended school in Wheaton. Bob left school early to help on the farm. As a young adult, Bob entered the United States Army, where he honorably served his country during the Korean War. On June 9, 1962, Bob was united in marriage to Marie Johnson at Popple Creek Lutheran Church in Popple Creek, Minnesota. Bob and Marie made their home and raised their family in Sauk Rapids. Bob worked for 25 years as the Chief Boiler Operator for American Linen Supply, now AmeriPride, retiring in 1990. He then traveled across the United States with Laborers for Christ for the next 17 years, building 32 churches and schools for the Missouri Synod. For the past 14 years Bob and Marie have made their home in Cold Spring, where they managed River Oaks Apartments for the first 10 years. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed woodworking, snowmobiling, camping, fishing, and spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marie of Cold Spring; children, Judy (James) Christopher of Sharpsburg, GA, Jane (Thomas) Christopher of Alexandria, SD, Jeff (Jenny) Jacobs of Watkins, and Jelaine (Craig) Beumer of Cold Spring; 5 grandchildren, John (Cindell), Michaela, Joshua, Jamie, and Caleb; 1 great-grandchild on the way; siblings, Harold Jacobs, Elvina Lezer, Darwin (Cindy) Jacobs, Arloa Gerdes, Karen (Richard) Flittie, and Carol (Bill) Crane; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Anna Jacobs; brothers, Harlin and Dennis Jacobs; and grandchild, Kaisha Beumer.
Bob's grandchildren will serve as urn bearers. Music will be provided by Lori Rippentrop. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Kimball.
