Ralph Goelz Obituary

Ralph J. Goelz, age 78, of Maple Lake, died Thursday, November 18, 2021 at his home under the loving care of his family.

Memorial Services will be held 6:00 p.m. Friday, November 26, 2021 at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Maple Lake with visitation 2 hours prior to the service. Deacon Ron Freeman will officiate. Interment will take place at a later date at St. Timothy Catholic Cemetery in Maple Lake. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers. The service will be live-streamed on the funeral home's website.

Ralph John Goelz was born October 8, 1943 to Harvey and Bernice Goelz at their home in Corinna Township. He started elementary school in Annandale, prior to transferring to St. Timothy Catholic School in Maple Lake when it opened. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Maple Lake. Ralph graduated with the Class of 1961 from Maple Lake High School. He served his country with the Army National Guard. On November 6, 1965, Ralph was united in marriage to Jane Ann Olson at St. Kevin Catholic Church in South Minneapolis. They made their home on a farm in Maple Lake Township, where they started their family and worked the land. They later moved into town. Ralph worked as a commodities broker and in real estate investments, both out of his home. He was a former member of the Maple Lake Lions and the Maple Lake American Legion. He was very active with the Maple Lake Hockey Association; contributing substantial time, resources, and energy to youth hockey in Maple Lake. Ralph enjoyed snowmobiling, traveling, reading, watching the Vikings, playing cribbage, gathering with his Monday night card group, fishing and elk, deer and pheasant hunting. In his younger years, he liked to coach youth athletics, and more recently he enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sports. In 2018, his pride in his grandchildren and love of sports came together as 4 of his grandchildren were on state Championship teams ... and won. He loved the time he was able to spend with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Jane; sons, Brett (Donna) and Brandon (Jenny), both of Maple Lake; grandchildren, Ben, Katie, Luke and Brock Goelz and Dylan Schaufler; brother, Jim (Carole); sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rose (Wayne) Malachek, Norman (Diane) Olson, Tom (Diane) Olson, Bill Olson, Al Olson and Jill Olson Reamer; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Bernice; and brother, John "Jack".
