Peter Henry, age 60, of Maple Lake, died Thursday, November 14, 2019 at his home surrounded by his beloved family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale with Fr. Andrew Stueve as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Maple Lake. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Peter Edward Henry was born August 27, 1959 in Hastings, Minnesota to Thomas and Shirley (Reamer) Henry. He spent his childhood in Vermillion, Minnesota and at the age of 16 moved to Maple Lake. Peter attended school in Annandale where he graduated with the Class of 1977. He then furthered his education at St. Cloud Technical College. In 1978, Peter began his lifetime career as a machinist at UMC in Monticello where he was employed for the past 40 years. On May 3, 1986 Peter was united in marriage to Marlys Matzke at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delano. Peter loved the outdoors and was an avid deer, goose, duck, grouse, and turkey hunter, and fisherman. He could often be found on his John Deere tractor, cutting wood, and enjoying the occasional Miller High Life.
Peter is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Marlys of Maple Lake; daughters, Stacey (Andrew) Wocken of Annandale, and Sarah (Ryan) Doherty of Lakeville; son, Joshua Henry of Otsego; mother, Shirley Henry of Annandale; siblings, Gretchen (Scott) Quiggle of Annandale, Mary Jo (Dean) Calonder of Bristow, VA, James (Marcia) Henry of Blaine, and Heidi (Donald) Cox of Clearwater; mother-in-law, Julia Matzke of Big Lake; his dog, Windsor; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and close friends. Peter was preceded in death by his father, Thomas, and father-in-law, Joseph Matzke.
Joshua Henry, Andrew Wocken, Ryan Doherty, Donald Cox, Mike Triplett, and James Henry will serve as urnbearers. St. Ignatius Music Ministry will provide music for the service.
