Mabel Irene Widmark was born May 11, 1926 to Edwin and Betsy (Olean) Gunderson at home on the family farm in French Lake Township. Mabel attended country school before attending Annandale Schools. On August 28, 1948, Mabel was united in marriage to William S. Widmark at their pastor's home on Lake Francis, near South Haven. They lived in Minneapolis for a short time, before making their home in rural South Haven. Mabel cared for their home, as well as providing care to those in need and working occasional seasonal jobs throughout the years. Mabel was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in South Haven, as well as a charter member of the South Haven VFW Auxillary. In her spare time, Mabel enjoyed sewing, visiting with friends at Mom's Cafe while having a cup of coffee, and going for drives to take in the beauty of the countryside. She loved to travel, especially to California, Florida, and Montana. Above all, Mabel treasured the time she was able to spend with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mabel is survived by her children, Carol (Craig) Carlson of South Haven, and Curtis (Cory) Widmark of South Haven; grandchildren, Eric (Toni) Carlson, Kelly (Paul) Korpela, Laura (Dan) Rademacher, Dan (Abby) Carlson, Andy Widmark, and Kara Widmark; adoring great-grandchildren, Camdonn, Chance, Gage, Trent, Dorothy, Shelby, Della, Gracie, Michael, and Matthew; sister, Betty Sandell of South Haven; brother-in-law, Duane (Delores) Widmark of Minneapolis; and nieces nephews, other family members and friends.
