Luella M. Lofgren, age 95, of South Haven, died Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Hilltop Health Care Center in Watkins.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 31, 2022, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Fairhaven with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. David Buchs will officiate. Burial will follow at Fairhaven Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed on the funeral home website.
Luella Marian Blumke was born October 20, 1927, in Meeker County to Edward and Freda (Schmidt) Blumke. She was baptized by Pastor Lueck on November 13, 1927, and confirmed by Pastor Beck on March 29, 1942, both at Concordia Lutheran Church in Fairhaven. Luella attended Union Grade school near North Kingston for just over two years before attending Fairhaven Grade School through the 8th grade. She graduated from Kimball High School with the Class of 1945. She then moved to Minneapolis where she worked for Gamble-Skogmo for 40 years.
On September 2, 1950, Luella was married to Donald Kell in Mason City, IA. After his death, she was united in marriage to Leroy Lofgren on August 10, 1967, at Golden Valley Lutheran Church in Golden Valley. In 1986, Luella and Leroy returned to Fairhaven Township where they built a home on Lake Marie.
In her retirement, Luella kept busy at Concordia Lutheran Church for several years as financial secretary and a member of the LWML. She also volunteered at the Kimball Food Shelf. Luella was a member of the Fairhaven Lions Club and the Kimball American Legion Post 261 Auxiliary. She enjoyed regularly attending church and bible study, bowling (accumulating many trophies), playing scrabble, watching the birds, working crossword puzzles, and watching the Minnesota Twins.
Luella is survived by her sister, Janette Maahs of Anoka; 9 nieces and nephews; 18 great-nieces and nephews; 36 great-great-nieces and nephews; many great-great-great-nieces and nephews; 4 special godchildren, Jackie Morrill, Melva Albers, Bradley Maahs, and Dennis Stoeckman; 3 stepchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, many step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Noreen Norman; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Donald Kell who died in 1964 and Leroy Lofgren who died in 2008; brothers, Floyd and Gerhard Blumke; sister, Lillian Weckwerth; sisters-in-law, Adeline and Gladys Blumke, and Oriet Sowl; brothers-in-law, Ruben Weckwerth and Franklin Maahs; beloved niece, Vicky Wilmson; and step-grandson, Eric Lofgren.
The casket bearers will be Scott, Brad, Keith, Ken, Anthony, Hunter, Asher, and Parker Maahs. Stuart and Donald Weckwerth will serve as honorary casket bearers. Lynn Hoff will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Kimball.
