Lois Alice (Whiting) Unzicker

Lois Unzicker, age 77, formerly of Milbank, South Dakota, passed away peacefully with the love of her family, on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, in Watkins, Minnesota.

Lois was born on July 17, 1943, to Ralph and Hildegarde Whiting, the third of nine children. She attended public schools in the Grant County area of South Dakota and on August 17, 1960, a great love story began when she married Dennis "Denny" Unzicker. They settled in and around Milbank and Webster, South Dakota, and raised three children. In the early days, the family was adventurous and would pull a camper and explore nearby states, with Lois' map-reading and navigation skills continuing to be a source of family lore. Lois loved to read, especially biographies, and instilled a love of reading in her children. She enjoyed watching NASCAR and was happy when sewing, gardening, canning the labors of her garden, and telling anyone that would listen about her beautiful and beloved grandchildren. Lois was blessed with a kind and generous heart, a quick wit, and the "gift of gab." She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.

Lois leaves behind to grieve her husband, Denny of Watkins, Minnesota; daughter Angela (Craig) Sanders of Princeton, Minnesota; daughter Lauri (Cameron) Keen of Charlottesville, Virginia; son Randall (Amy) Unzicker of Annandale, Minnesota, and three grandchildren, Nicholas, Ashton, and Ella.

No public services will be held, and the family will hold a private ceremony at a later date. In lieu of cards or flowers, the family asks that you please do what you can to protect yourself and others during these unprecedented times, and remember to hold your loved ones close.
