Kathleen Josephine Ryan was born March 19, 1927 in Hopkins, Minnesota to Leonard and Catherine (Ess) Pauly. Along with her four siblings, Kay grew up in Hopkins, where she attended school and graduated with the Class of 1946. On June 16, 1951 Kay was united in marriage to Patrick Ryan at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hopkins. They continued to make their home in Hopkins for a few years before moving to Buffalo. In 1966, they moved, along with their two children to Maple Lake. They made their final move in 1982 when they built their home on Moose Lake, in rural Annandale. Kay worked at different jobs over the years, including various positions at Camp Courage and for many garden centers. As a nature and outdoor enthusiast, Kay was happy to spend many years caring for flowers and plants at Weber's Folly Greenhouse and later at Gardendale, both near Annandale. She also worked at Carlson's Orchard picking apples. Being surrounded by God's beauty was truly Kay's happy place. In her spare time, Kay enjoyed tending to her own gardens, completing puzzles, sewing, and braiding rugs. She will lovingly be remembered for the fancy Christmas cookies and candies she would make. Kay liked to remain active and spend as much time as she could being outdoors whether it be ice-skating, downhill or cross-country skiing, or walking. Animals also held a special place in her heart, especially her cat and dog, Kit and Daisy. Above all, Kay cherished the time she was able to spend with her family and friends, especially her two granddaughters, Danielle and Chenin.

Kay is survived by her daughter, Anna Ryan of South Haven; son, Rollin (Karin) Ryan of Camarillo, CA; grandchildren, Danielle (Jason) Luke and Chenin Ryan; siblings, Charlotte Anderson of Belleair, FL, Mary Lou (Raymond) Holmberg of Waconia, and Shirley Banning of Kent, Washington; sister-in-law, Cathy Pauly of Plymouth; and nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pat; parents, Leonard and Catherine; son-in-law, John Latour; brother, Leon Pauly; and brother-in-law, Richard Anderson.

Danielle Luke, Jason Luke, and Russ Pool will serve as urn bearers.
