Joyce A. Gillitzer, age 85, of Annandale, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 7, 2020 at the Annandale Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 14, 2020 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale with Father John Meyer as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale. Visitation will begin at 12 noon on Friday at the church. Masks or face coverings are required at the church and social distancing is to be maintained. The service will be live-streamed on the funeral home's website for those unable to attend. Memorials are preferred.
Joyce Ann Gillitzer was born on June 15, 1935 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Emil J. and Dorothy K. (Wuertz) Aigner. She graduated in 1953 from Cathedral High School in St. Cloud. On February 19, 1955 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Sylvin P. Gillitzer at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in St. Cloud. They lived in the Minneapolis area before eventually building their home on Bass Lake, near Annandale. They lived there for many years before retiring and wintering in Florida. In March of 2016 they moved back to Annandale to be closer to family. Joyce worked 20 years at Brown and Bigelow, in Minneapolis. She then went on to work at Carlson Doll Co., in Maple Lake for 20 years. Joyce loved being with her family, playing cards, doing puzzles, and most of all she loved boat rides around Bass Lake with family and friends.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 65 years, Sylvin "Sy" of Annandale; daughter, Roxane (Neil) Busacker of Buffalo; sons, Jim (Cathleen) of Maple Lake, Mike (Jayne) of Spring Lake Park and Mark of South Haven; siblings, Bonnie (Jim) Kain of Maple Grove, Bob (Brad) of Monticello, Kevin (Marilyn) of Sauk Rapids, Cheryl (Bill) Hanson of Rochester, and Mary (Doug) Mendel of St. Cloud; grandchildren, David, Kristin, Grace and RJ; great-grandson, Avery, and many nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents.
