Joyce Ann Bartels, age 70, of Annandale died peacefully on Friday, March 19, 2021 at her home on Lake John.
Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24 at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale and 9-10:15 a.m. Thursday, March 25 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Annandale. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 25, 2021 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Annandale with Fr. John Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Annandale. Services will be livestreamed on the funeral home website.
Joyce Ann Bartels was born June 24, 1950 in St. Cloud to Benedict and Mary (Peschl) Bronder. She graduated from St. Cloud Cathedral with the Class of 1968. She worked as a candy striper at the St. Cloud Hospital during high school, then worked at NorthWestern Bell, National Cash Register and as a home health aid. For 34 years, she kept the students and staff at the College of St. Benedict well fed as a staff cook; she retired in 2015. On November 26, 2005, she was united in marriage to Bruce Bartels at St. John's Lutheran Church in Annandale. Joyce loved any activity that provided a chance to gather with her family and friends, including cooking, entertaining, golfing, attending meat raffles and "card group."
She is survived by her husband, Bruce; children, Melissa (Keith) Blom of Sartell, Cory (Dan) Davis of Elkton, SD and Chris (Nikki) Hennen of Wasilla, AK; step children, Sara (David) Brown of Glencoe and Jason (Elisa) Bartels of Bolingbrook, IL; mother, Mary Bronder of Sartell; sister, Julie (Dan) Hall of Annandale; and grandchildren, Hailey, Olivia, Jadyn, Ryann, Reegan, Ty, Madeline, Brooke, Sam, Luca, Rocco, Bella and one more that is expected to arrive in May. She was preceded in death by her father, Benedict Bronder; and brother, Jim Bronder.
The urn bearers will be Keith Blom, Dan Davis, Matt Bronder and Alex Bronder. Lee Ann Meyer will provide the music for the service. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society, Randy Shaver Cancer Research & Community Fund, METAvivor, CentraCare Hospice or the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
