JoAnn Irene Round

JoAnn I. Round, age 96, of Monticello, formerly of Buffalo and Maple Lake, died Wednesday September 8, 2021 at St. Benedict Senior Community in Monticello.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 13, 2021 at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Maple Lake with Fr. Kevin Magner as the Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Timothy Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m. on Monday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Maple Lake.

JoAnn Irene Meierhofer was born May 30, 1925 in Watkins to Joseph and Irene (McMacken) Meierhofer. She grew up in Watkins and graduated from Kimball High School. She was united in marriage to Eugene Theder on June 4, 1946 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins; he preceded her in death in 1970. She married Franklin Round on December 18, 1971; he preceded her in death in 1991.

In addition to caring for the family, JoAnne worked in the office at Progressive Dairy in Maple Lake for 20 years, retiring in 1990. She was a current member at St. Henry Catholic Church in Monticello and a former member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo and St. Timothy Catholic Church in Maple Lake. She was a former member of the St. Francis CCW, St. Timothy CCW and the Maple Lake American Legion Auxiliary. JoAnn enjoyed reading, walking, praying and playing the piano. JoAnn valued her faith and her family above all else.

She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Heacock of Apple Valley, Krista Elsenpeter (Tom Tarbox) of Maple Lake, and Susan (Tom) Ibs of Big Lake; brother, Eugene Meierhofer of Spicer; sister-in-law, Virginia Meierhofer of The Villages, FL; 19 grandchildren, Michelle, Jenny, Mark, James, Sarah, Susan, Dan, Kate, Carmen, Luke, Anne Marie, Bradley, Steven, Brian, Scott, Rachel, Hannah, Jacob and Grace; 41 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Irene Meierhofer; husbands, Eugene Theder and Franklin Round; son, Mark Theder; son-in-law, Deacon Greg Elsenpeter; grandson, Joseph Elsenpeter; sister Dee Slaybaugh; and brothers, Merlin, Maynard and William Meierhofer.

The urn bearers will be Mark Heacock, Jim, Dan and Luke Elsenpeter, Brian and Jacob Ibs. Sarah Goelz, Anne Pribyl, Andrea Peterson, Amelia Schmidt and Daniel Goelz will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Maple Lake.
