Jerome "Jerry" Ryan, age 85, of Buffalo, died Wednesday, January 5, 2022 in Otsego under hospice care.
Funeral Liturgy will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale with visitation one hour prior to the service. Fr. Kevin Magner will officiate. Burial with military honors will take place at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, assembly area 3, at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18, 2022. The family requests that masks be worn by those attending services. The funeral will be livestreamed on the funeral home website.
Jerome Robert Ryan was born August 9, 1936 in Minneapolis to Floyd and Cecilia (LaFond) Ryan. He graduated with the Class of 1954 from Minneapolis North High School. Jerry served his country as an operations clerk, driver and courier in the US Army in Korea. On November 28, 1959, he was united in marriage to Rita Niedenfuer at St. Bridgets Catholic Church in Minneapolis. They made their home in Crystal where they raised their family. Jerry worked for over 38 years for Minnegasco, retiring in 1998 as a supervisor. Jerry and Rita then moved to Buffalo. He was a member of the St. Michael American Legion. He enjoyed classic cars, hunting, reading, and sipping a good martini.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Ryan of Buffalo; Mark (Kelly) Ryan of Albertville, Carolyn (Chuck) Bammert of Elk River, Cate (Mic) Michels of LaCrosse, WI, and Dan Ryan of Independence; grandchildren, Nicholas Ryan, Bill and Danny Ryan, Jacob and John Michels; and sister, Donna Inkala of Brooklyn Center. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Tom Ryan.
Jerry's grandsons will serve as casket bearers. Jacob Michels will provide music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
