Howard grew up on the family farm and attended school at New York Mills. Following his graduation, Howard honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. On April 7, 1951, he was united in marriage to Donna Lucille Desrocher at St. Frederick's Catholic Church in Verndale. He enjoyed engaging in matches of bowling and horseshoe, with his competitive spirit shining through with every throw.

Whether it was spending peaceful days fishing on serene lakes or embarking on thrilling boating adventures, the beauty of nature warmed his heart and filled his soul. He found solace and rejuvenation in the great outdoors and felt a deep connection to the world around him.

To those who were fortunate enough to know him, Howard was a true jack of all trades. His curiosity and willingness to learn allowed him to develop an array of skills that amazed those around him. He approached every task with determination and a can-do attitude.

Above all, Howard cherished his family. His devotion to his beloved wife, D. Lucille, knew no bounds. His unwavering love and support were a guiding light for his family, and he leaves behind memories of unconditional love that will be cherished for generations to come.
