Harold Hubert Schmidt was born November 12, 1934 in Annandale, Minnesota to Hubert and Elsie (Ruge) Schmidt. He graduated from Annandale High School. He served his country in the US Army from 1956 - 1958; he was stationed for a majority of his service in Germany. On April 8, 1967, Harold was united in marriage to Nelda Jean Hasse at Zion Lutheran Church in Annandale. They made their home in rural Annandale where they raised their family. Harold worked for Knutson Construction for 11 years prior to working for 27 years for the Annandale School District. He was a life-long member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ, where he was baptized, confirmed, and served on the Church Council, Spiritual Council, and the Special Projects Group. Harold enjoyed county music, sports, traveling to Branson, MO, and taking trips to the casinos. He thoroughly enjoyed when he was able to combine his love for sports and family by watching his grandchildren's activities. He felt at home in the outdoors when he was planting trees, working in the garden and taking care of the lawn.
He is survived by his wife, Nelda; sons, Jeffrey (Amy) of New London and Jason (Lisa) of St. Louis Park; four grandchildren, Jake, Noah, Katie and Ellie; sister Lorna (Al) Ittel of Brooklyn Center; brothers-in-law, James (JoAnn) Hasse and Bruce Smith; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Elsie; brother, Melvin; and sisters-in-law, Beverly Smith, Shirley Krogstad and Glenice Schmidt.
