Gloria Nelson Obituary

Gloria J. Nelson, age 72, of Annandale, formerly of Maple Grove, died on Monday, April 8, 2024, of an aggressive form of bile duct cancer at Robbinsdale North Memorial Hospital surrounded by the love and care of her family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 11, 2024, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale with Fr. Kevin Magner as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, near French Lake. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday at the church.

Gloria Jean Miller was born on July 18, 1951, in St. Cloud, Minnesota, to Russel and Lorraine (Tellers) Miller. Along with her sister, Gloria grew up in Annandale, where she graduated in 1969. She attended St. Cloud Beauty School and spent most of her career as a hairdresser with her Peppertree family in New Hope until her retirement in 2016. In 1971, she met Les Nelson, and they were united in marriage on May 5, 1973, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Annandale. They raised two daughters in Maple Grove and retired to Annandale.

Throughout her life, Gloria found joy in the simple pleasures - from playing cards to spending quality time with her family at the lake. Nothing brought Gloria greater joy than spending time with her family, especially with her four granddaughters. She attended as many of their activities as she could, all while being their biggest fan. Her love for cooking, shopping, crafting, lunch dates with friends, and her thoughtful nature endeared her to all who knew her. Everyone who knows Gloria will remember a dedicated wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and grandmother. Gloria touched the lives of many with her infectious laugh, generous spirit, and nurturing presence.

Gloria is survived by her husband of almost 51 years, Les Nelson of Annandale; daughters, Amy (John) Lillehaug of Maple Lake and Kelly (Ryan) McKnight of St. Francis; granddaughters, Abigail, Emmalynn, Sara, and Ava; her mother Lorraine Miller of Annandale; sister, Pam Lantto of Annandale; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Russel Miller; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alfred and Martha Nelson; stepmother-in-law, Carol Nelson; and other dear family members.

John Lillehaug, Ryan McKnight, Josh Lantto, Ryan Streifel, Cameron Howard, and Derrick Hoiland will serve as casket bearers and her four granddaughters will serve as honorary casket bearers. St. Ignatius Music Ministry will provide music for the service. Arrangements entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Annandale.
