Gerald Walter Buranen

Gerald "Jerry" Buranen of Princeton, age 66, died Tuesday, April 18, 2023, surrounded by his family at home. 

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale, Minnesota. Burial will follow at Our Saviour's Lutheran Cemetery in French Lake. Visitation will be held 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the Funeral. Services will be webcast on the funeral home website.

Gerald Walter Buranen was born April 13, 1957, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Walter and Arlene (Walberg) Buranen. He graduated from North High High School in Minneapolis in 1975. Jerry worked as a Machinist for 49 years, most recently at Mate Precision Technologies. In 1989, Jerry built a home in Annandale where he lived for over 26 years. Jerry was united in marriage to Sheila Peterson in South Haven on January 15, 2022. Together they lived in Princeton for the past 8 years. Jerry had a love of being outdoors whether it was hunting, fishing, or working on classic cars. He cherished his time entertaining his family and friends with stories and even some jokes. Jerry had a big heart and an even bigger smile.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Sheila Peterson of Princeton, MN; sons, Justin (Sam) Buranen, and Nate (Ariel) Buranen, both of Alexandria, MN; step-children, Austin (Sara) Peterson of Monticello, MN, Justin (Ashley) Peterson of Maple Lake, MN, and Ashley (Bryan) Kyllonen of Mesa, AZ; siblings, Sharon (Tim) Sullivan of Wayzata, MN, Bruce ( Tammy) Buranen of Brainerd, MN, Jim (Tami) Buranen of Maple Lake, MN, and Deb Koppes of Big Lake, MN; step-grandchildren, Kylie, Whitley, Michael, Harper, Jaxson, Paisley, and Wesley; and many other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents Wally and Arlene Buranen, and father-in-law, Joe Schlosser.

Timmy Terwey, Jen Buranen, Justin Buranen, Nate Buranen, Austin Peterson, Justin Peterson, Travis Buranen, and Rob Koppes will serve as casket bearers.
