Gene W. Dillon, age 90, of Minneapolis, formerly of Rush City, died Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at his daughters' home.
Private Graveside services will be held in the spring at Fairhaven Cemetery in Fairhaven, Minnesota.
Gene Wilbur Dillon was born January 12, 1930 in Sioux City, Iowa to Lucille Riley Jordan. He grew up in Sioux City, Iowa. Gene graduated from Central High School with the Class of 1948. On January 9, 1950, he was united in marriage to Marlys Mae Dahnke. They moved to Minneapolis, where they raised three daughters. Gene worked at Despatch Oven Industries, he wore several hats and held a Master Electrician’s license and was a Master Contractor. Upon retirement, Gene and Marlys moved to Rush Lake in Rush City; eventually moving back to Minneapolis. Gene enjoyed fishing, pool, cribbage, paddle ball, bowling and family.
Gene is survived by his daughters, Sherry Dillon, Jody Stevens and Kelly Dillon-Love, all of Minneapolis; three grandchildren, Tyrone Stevens, Colt (fiancée Amanda Day) Stevens and Nicole (Adam) Ellefsen; five great-grandchildren, Caleb Sizemore, Jameer and Javon Huff, Devin and Dayton Stevens. He was preceded in death by his mother and his wife.
The urn bearers will be grandchildren, Tyrone, Colt and Nicole. Brian Dingmann will serve as the Life Tribute Celebrant. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
