Dwane C. Schmidt, age 83, of Annandale, died Tuesday, December 21, 2020 at Mercy Hospital due to complications of COVID-19.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2020 at Zion Lutheran Church, Annandale with Rev. Tyler LaGrave officiating. Walk through visitation will be held from 9:45-10:45 at the church. Burial will follow at Corinna Cemetery. By request of family, mask, distancing and capacity guidelines will be followed at all services, including the walk-through visitation, funeral and graveside service. Services will be livestreamed on the funeral home website.
Dwane Charles Schmidt was born July 6, 1937 in Kimball, Minnesota to Edward and Lorraine (Bowatz) Schmidt. Dwane grew up in Fairhaven and attended school in Fairhaven and Kimball. He was Baptized on February 28, 1943 and Confirmed in his Faith on March 18, 1951, both at Concordia Lutheran Church in Fairhaven. On August 8, 1970, he was united in marriage to Clementine May Gehrke at Concordia Lutheran Church in Fairhaven. They made their home in Annandale, where they raised their two sons, Edward and Craig. Dwane worked in maintenance for the Annandale Care Center for 11 years, before working at Zion Lutheran Church and St. John's Lutheran Church for over 10 years. Dwane also operated his mowing business for well over 30 years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church; Dwane's faith was central to his life. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family, especially with his grandson, Dale.
Dwane is survived by his wife of 50 years, Clementine "Mae" of Annandale; children, Edward (Jackie) and Craig (Stephanie), both of Annandale; grandson, Dale Edward Schmidt; step-grandchildren, Arielle and Emily Robinson; honorary grandchild, Levi Noggle; siblings, Mary Lou (Don) Ingram of Bloomington and Larry (Dawn) Schmidt of Long Prairie; sister-in-law, Doris Schmidt of Blaine; Godchildren, Candie Fennema and Debbie Bechtold; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lorraine; sister, Shirley Stewart; brothers, Dale and Gerald Schmidt; and Godchild, Kelly Jo Imsande.
The casket bearers will be Mitch, Dana and Brad Schmidt, Ron and Roger Stewart and Wayne Ingram. Arrangements entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Annandale.
