Douglas Raymond Fobbe was born December 1, 1935, at home in Maple Lake to Raymond and Vinus (Smith) Fobbe. He grew up in Maple Lake, graduating from Maple Lake High School with the Class of 1954. On September 17, 1960, he was united in marriage to Margaret Mary Froehling at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins. They made their home in Plymouth where they started their family. In 1974, they moved to Maple Lake. Doug worked for 20 years with Super Valu, Inc. in Hopkins, retiring in 1997. He was a member of St. Timothy's Catholic Church in Maple Lake, the National Rifle Association, and the Waverly Gun Club. Doug had a passion for baseball. As a youth he was a bat boy, he then played 10 years for the Maple Lake Lakers, and later he coached little league, instilling his love for the game. Doug enjoyed fishing, hunting, shooting pool, gardening, reading, and researching military history. In retirement, he became an enthusiastic supporter of his grandchildren. He had a lot of advice to share, in Doug's own words, "If you can't be good, be careful."

Doug is survived by his wife Margie; sons, Tom (Jean) of St. Paul, Scott (Chris) of Annandale, and Bill (Doreen) of Maple Lake; son-in-law, Denny Brunn of Buffalo; grandchildren, Lucas, Anna, Catie, Elliot, Rachel, and Reaghan; brothers, Gordon (Carolyn), Jim (Adele), Ray (Maureen), Dennis (Mary), Steve (Marilyn), and Larry (Brenda); and many other relatives and friends. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Vinus; daughter, Jennifer Fobbe-Brunn; and brother, Tommy Fobbe.

Doug's grandchildren will serve as urn bearers. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Maple Lake.
