We all live on borrowed time, when our loved ones leave us way too soon, our lives are forever changed. This is indeed the case of Minnow; a loving husband, dad, grandpa, son, brother, son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, and treasured friend. Donald Walter Rasset was born September 23, 1954 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Marvin and Grace (Olson) Rasset. Don grew up in Annandale, where he, along with his 5 siblings, spent much of his younger years helping with the family businesses, Annandale Hatchery and Produce, followed by Marv's Bait Shop. Minnow attended school in Annandale where he graduated in 1973. On September 8, 1979, Don was united in marriage to Sue Stumpf at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Maple Lake. Minnow and Sue made their home in rural Annandale, where they raised their two children. For over 30 years, they owned and operated Truk-Mate Toppers. Don loved watching, coaching, and participating in various sporting events, including baseball, softball, trapshooting, and bowling. As an avid outdoorsman, he liked to hunt, fish, trap, sit around a bonfire, and simply spend time in the great outdoors. Minnow was always up for a game of cribbage, poker, or trivia, he enjoyed music, and always looked forward to Annandale's 4th of July celebration. As a people person, Minnow always found a way to engage you in conversation. His quick wit and "occasional" prank would usually bring a smile to the faces of those around him. Of all life's joys, Don would put being a grandpa to his eight grandchildren at the top of the list. Minnow was a hardworking, honest, selfless, and kind man, and a "solid rock" to his family and friends.
Don is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sue of Annandale; children, Sarah (Aaron) Middendorf of Albany and Steve (Amanda) Rasset of Annandale; 8 adoring grandchildren, Alexa, Carsen, Isaac, Blake and Hadley Middendorf, and Levi, Violet and Sylvie Rasset; mother, Grace Rasset of Annandale; siblings, James (Bonna) Rasset of Ortonville, Bonnie (Dean) Hoglund of Annandale, Denny (Mary Lou) Rasset of Annandale, and Patty Rasset of Edina; sister-in-law, Shelley Rasset of Annandale; mother-in-law, Mary Stumpf of Annandale; godchildren, Julie Danielson, Carrie Kronquist, Scott Mavencamp and Shane Potter; and many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Marv Rasset; brother, Dave Rasset; niece, Suzanne Rasset; and father-in-law, Clay Stumpf.
The urn bearers will be Rick Walberg, Paul Fobbe, Joe Gunnerson, Bill Evenson, Bruce Stuhr, Dale Miller and Jeff Steinhoff. Deacon Ron Freeman will officiate and Andrea Peterson will provide the music for the graveside service. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services.
