Donald B. Heid, age 67, of Kimball, died Wednesday, February 12, 2020.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at St. Anne Catholic Church, Kimball with Fr. James Statz as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Kimball Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.

Donald Bernard Heid was born June 15, 1952 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Gerald and LaVerna (Heinen) Heid, one of fourteen children. Don grew up on the family farm in Maine Prairie Township and attended school in Kimball. Don entered the United States Army, where he honorably served his country and worked as a diesel mechanic. Upon his discharge, Don returned to the area and worked as a mechanic in St. Cloud. He eventually took over the family farm in Maine Prairie Township, where he spent 30+ years caring for the land and his animals. Don had an interest in anything that had a motor, riding his motorcycle and snowmobile, watching snowmobile racing, and attending car shows. He also took a special interest in farm shows, threshing events, and anything else farming related. A farmer at heart, his love of nature, the land, and all of God's creation was evident in his daily life, whether it be trying to visit state parks, going for a drive to enjoy the beautiful country views, or caring for animals, especially his farm cats. As Don sold his livestock, he began to travel more, taking trips across Minnesota and visits to Sturgis on his bike. He also occasionally liked to try his luck at the casino. Don made his family and friends a priority and of all Don's blessings, he considered his two children, Sophia and Sy, and his grandson, Darion at the top of the list.

Don is survived by his children, Sophia Heid of Annandale, and Sy Heid of Kimball; grandson, Darion Bogatzki of Annandale; siblings, Roland (Gale) of Watkins, John (Mary Ann) of Watkins, Linda (Ron) Plamann of Kimball, Peter of Kimball, Paul of Kimball, Mary Heid of Watkins, Marlene (Tom) Konz of Pearl Lake, Cindy (Steve) Geislinger of Watkins, Elaine Beehler of Bemidji, Jackie Heid (Richard Woehnker) of Elk River, Jerry Jr. of Carrington, ND, and Janet (James) Krasowski of Minnetrista; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and LaVerna; stepmother, Regina (Lust) Heid; sister, Diane Heid; and brother-in-law, Dan Strohmeier.

Sy Heid, Darion Bogatzki, Roland, John, Peter, and Paul Heid will serve as urn bearers. Shaana Figalo, Taaya Zellman, and Aadra Kueske will provide music for the service. Arrangements entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Kimball.
