Darren Allen Barkley

Darren A. Barkley, age 43, of Evans, GA, died Monday, May 17, 2021. Darren will always be remembered for his bright smile that could light up a room. The strength and courage he displayed for years and years while fighting depression is truly remarkable. Sadly, his pain became too overwhelming and he ended his life.

Memorial services will be held on 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2021 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Annandale with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. David Nelson will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Annandale. Local services will be livestreamed on the funeral home's website. Funeral services were also be held in Martinez, GA.

Darren Allen Barkley was born June 20, 1977 in South Korea. At the age of 8 months, he was adopted by Blaine and Diane Barkley. Darren grew up on Lake Sylvia near Annandale. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Annandale. He attended high school in Annandale and trade school at Hennepin County Vocational College. Darren worked at a Mercedes-Nissan Dealership in Bloomington and a Car Service Center in Hopkins prior to venturing out on his own, where he worked on automobile electrical systems, mechanics and car customization. He was truly an artist in his work on vehicles as well as with a pencil. Darren enjoyed spending time outdoors, being on the lake, fishing, camping, and cooking.

Darren is survived by his four children, Xaria, Alexis, Jayqun and Komikko; parents, Diane and Blaine Barkley of Annandale; sisters, Kimberly Barkley of Minneapolis, Allison Barkley of Annandale and Emily (Michael) Combs of Annandale; nieces, Aria and Annika Combs; and girlfriend, Michelle Damarys. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Julia and Dayton Barkley and Everett and Judith Stockman.

Darren gave the gift of life through organ and tissue donation. The urn bearers will be his four children; Xaria, Alexis, Jayqun and Komikko. Becky Unger will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
