Darrel Wills Obituary

Darrel C. Wills, age 93, of Kimball, died Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 16, 2021 at the Kimball Christian Church with Pastor Kevin White officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m on Saturday at the church. Burial will follow at the Kimball Cemetery. The service will be live-streamed on the funeral home website.

Darrel Clinton Wills was born March 26, 1928 on the family farm in Kingston Township to Glen and Stella (Nordstrom) Wills. Darrel attended country school at District #47, before attending Dassel High School. Darrel honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon his discharge, Darrel returned to the Kimball area. On January 15, 1955, he was united in marriage to Shirley A. Marquardt at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in South Haven. Darrel worked on the assembly line for Ford Motor Company at the St. Paul plant for 30+ years, retiring in 1980. Darrel's faith was of the utmost importance to him. He was a longtime member of the Kimball Christian Church, and also enjoyed visiting other churches as he and Shirley traveled. In addition to seeing the world with Shirley, he also enjoyed creating memories traveling with the grandchildren. With a servant's heart, Darrel volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, as well as traveling to areas devastated by natural disasters to put his carpenter skills to use. He liked heading north to Canada to fish. In the unlikely event Darrel wasn't traveling, he could be found farming or in his shop doing some woodworking.

Darrel is survived by his sons, Steven (Cindy) of Fairhaven, Douglas (Julie) of Fairhaven, and Tim (Doreen) of Kimball; 9 grandchildren, Nicole, Jason, Jesse, Michael, Brian, Chad, Courtney, Dustin, and Megan; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Doris Sovde of Aitkin and Jean Glessing of Howard Lake; and nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; son and daughter-in-law Robert and Pamela Wills; great-grandchildren, William and Layton; siblings, Orlo and Lloyd (Donna); and brothers-in-law, Russ Sovde and Loren Glessing.

Darrel's grandchildren will serve as urn bearers.
