She was Baptized, received First Communion and was Confirmed in her Faith at St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Northeast Minneapolis. Char graduated from St. Anthony High School with the Class of 1952 and continued her education at the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul for education. On November 27, 1954, she was united in marriage to Francis Hehir at St. Hedwig Catholic Church. They lived in Northeast Minneapolis where Char worked at St. Hedwig School.
