Amber Goff Obituary

Amber Rose Goff, 28, passed from this life on August 28, 2020, into the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amber was a special young lady who lived life to the fullest that she possibly could, usually with a smile and always with a zeal and determination that is rare.

Public graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 11, 2020 at St. Mary Help of Christians Cemetery in St. Augusta with Chaplain Michael Dix officiating. Public visitation will be held from 3-6:30 on Thursday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale with a private prayer service at 7 p.m. Services will be live-streamed on the funeral home website for those unable to attend.

Amber Rose Zitzloff was born on July 15, 1992 in Buffalo, Minnesota to James D. and Johnna (Toenjes) Zitzloff. She graduated from Annandale High School in Annandale, Minnesota in 2010 with honors. In 2014, she received her Associates Degree in Bookkeeping and Accounting. She worked for a time at Bohnson Industries in Cary, North Carolina, before moving to Indiana with her husband, Jeffery.

Amber was born with a genetic disorder, Cystic Fibrosis (CF) that attacks healthy lungs and causes scar tissue to occur along with other complications. She had diabetes which was caused by the CF. As a young child, she had a feeding tube placed because nutrition was a concern, as Amber, a very picky eater, was not getting enough calories. However, she did enjoy her Mountain Dew and pretzels; a snack that she would always find enough room to eat! At the age of 12, Amber and her family were fortunate enough to go to Disney World in Florida, courtesy of Make a Wish! After the trip, since compliance was a word our warrior didn’t like at the time (what teenager does for that matter) the difficult decision was made to place her into a foster home where she would be looked after by none other than, The Jennifer! Oh, but to hear Amber tell it, Jennifer was a drill sergeant, making her do those despicable bd (bronchial drainage) treatments, and all of those pills that The Jen wouldn’t let her put in the toilet; she actually had to take them! But she loved her foster sisters and brother. Of course, she would come on the weekends thinking she would get a break from all of that, but no! The Jen had to let Amber's Mom know so that they were on the same page! Darn, no break for this kid! Amber lived with the Filek Family for 6 years and formed a very close relationship with the whole family.

Amber fought hard to overcome challenges of depression and other self-destructive behaviors. With many years of counseling and utilitizing coping mechanisms, Amber was well on her way to recovery. In September of 2011, Amber became an overjoyed mama to a 140 pound Mastiff, named Mator. She loved that great big ol' black marshmallow of a dog. The only thing that was dangerous about him was his tail, as he would beat you with it when he wagged it. In 2013 Amber moved to North Carolina to be with her first husband, Justin. Unfortunately, that relationship didn’t work out, but on February 10, 2016, Amber married her best friend and soulmate, Jeffery Goff, who has been there through many health issues and has been one of her biggest fans and encouragers. In the recent months, and years, this turned out to be very important in helping her live as healthy and quality life as possible. One of the most important and enjoyable things she enjoyed doing was riding. As much as everyone that loved Amber hoped and prayed and pleaded, God had other plans for her as she entered hospice on August 14, 2020 and quietly slipped from our grips and into the presence of Jesus Christ.

Special thanks go to the staff at Visiting Nurse Hospice House for the outstanding care and dedication they had to take care of Amber. Also thank you to Dr. MacNamara, and staff from the Minneapolis Chidrens Hospitals for their wonderful care of Amber when she was growing up; they gave us many tools and suggestions for keeping her safe.

Amber is survived by her husband, Jeffery of LaPorte, IN; parents, James and Johnna Zitzloff of Sanford, NC; brothers, Nick and Lucas of Sanford, NC; her special foster family, the Fileks: Chad, Jennifer, Stephanie, Hannah, and Kassy of Maple Lake, Minnesota and Ryan of North Carolina; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bruce and Penny Goff; many other aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her fur baby, Diesel.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Allen and Lulabell Zitzloff, and her maternal grandparents, Clifford and Joann Hagen; and uncle, Lee Zitzloff.

Arrangements are entrusted with Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory in LaPorte, IN and Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services in Annandale, MN.
