Alan "Oz" Van Vleet, age 64, of Annandale, formerly of Kimball, died Thursday, September 8, 2022, at the CentraCare Paynesville Hospital.
Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 14, 20222, at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale with Pastor Todd Nelsen officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday and beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, both at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale. The service will be live-streamed on the funeral home website.
Alan Dale Van Vleet was born on December 24, 1957, in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Harold and Nina (Kennedy) Van Vleet. Al grew up in Kimball, along with his six siblings. He attended school in Kimball, graduating in 1976. Following his graduation, Al worked in auto body repair. On January 27, 1979, Al was united in marriage to Wendy Jo DeBlois at Concordia Lutheran Church in Fairhaven. They made their home in Kimball, along with their three daughters. Al worked at Knaus in Kimball and in curb and gutter before he began his 30+ years working as a production planner for Plymouth Industries. Al was a former member of the Sons of the American Legion. In his spare time, Oz enjoyed being outdoors fishing, gardening, pheasant hunting, camping, and kayaking. He also liked to hone his carpentry and woodworking skills. Al was always happiest sitting on a beach in Mexico or in the presence of his family, especially with his grandkids and great-grandkids.
Al is survived by his wife of 43 years, Wendy of Annandale; daughters, Amanda (Troy) Isensee of Annandale, Jennifer (Derrick) Dittberner of St. Cloud, and Rhiannon Van Vleet of Annandale; 13 grandchildren, Alex, Zack, Allie, Damien, Tanner, Dominic, Miranda, Tyler, Adam, Austin, Kenzie, Jay, and Samantha; 8 great-grandchildren, Aurora, Amor, Mason, Kendall, Brynlee, Henrick, Declan, and Winston; siblings, Lyndon (Debbie) of St. Cloud, Sara (Larry) Fischer of Clearwater, Roger (Julie) of Backus, Steve of St. Cloud, and David (Amanda) of Kimball; siblings-in-law, Tina Tobin of Annandale, Doug (Stephanie) DeBlois of Arlington, and Kim (Rod) Simons of Annandale; and nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jeffrey; son-in-law, Guy Thompson; sister-in-law, Sherri Van Vleet; parents-in-law, LeRoy and Erna DeBlois; and brother-in-law, Toby Tobin.
Al's grandchildren will serve as honorary urn bearers. Arrangements entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Annandale.
