William C. Newman, age 86, of Annandale, formerly of Buffalo and Minneapolis, died Monday, September 4, 2017 at his son's home in Annandale.

Memorial Services will be held 5:00 p.m. Friday, September 8, 2017 at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale with Pastor Jeff Droogsma officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. A committal service and burial with full military honors provided by the Ft. Snelling Memorial Rifle Squad will take place 10:15 a.m. Monday, September 11, at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, assembly area 5.

William Carl Newman was born September 23, 1930 in Springfield, SD to Victor and Martha (Stark) Newman. He grew up in Springfield. Bill enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and served his country during the Korean War. While stationed in New York, Bill was united in marriage to Erma Rance Coe in Hartford, CT. Retiring in 1993, Bill worked for over 38 years in shipping at the SuperValu in Hopkins. Bill was a member of American Legion Post 440 in Minneapolis. He enjoyed bowling, cards, football, horseshoes, bingo, listening to country music, watching western movies and time spent with family and grandkids.

Bill is survived by his children Rick (fiancé Cindy Minx) of Poway, CA, Barbara (Ron) White of Iowa, Ed (Jeryl) of Aiken and Russel (Monica) of Annandale; son-in-law Keith Current of South Haven; brothers Daryl of Eau Claire, WI, Al (Sue) of Delano, and Delbert (Linda) of Colorado; 25 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Victor and Martha; wife Erma; daughter Mary Current; and brother Victor.
