Obituary

Mr. William 'Bill' H. Kersten, age 90, of South Haven died Sunday, January 2, 2005 at the Annandale Care Center.

Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at Zion United Methodist Church, South Haven with Rev. Heather Klason and Rev. Dan Schneider-Bryan officiating. A private burial followed in Zion Cemetery, South Haven. Friends and family gathered from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale. There was a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

William 'Bill' Henry Kersten was born March 8, 1914 in South Haven to Frank G. and Minnie (Ernst) Kersten. He married Trula L. Ballard on May 4, 1935 in St. Paul. Bill lived in South Haven all his life where he was a dedicated farmer and member of Zion United Methodist Church. He was a pioneering member of the Annandale FFA, lifetime Farm Bureau member, served as South Haven Civic Council Clerk, and served on the Southside Township Board. Bill loved his family, studying agriculture and cattle, grass roots politics, baseball, and basketball.

He is survived by his loving wife, Trula of Annandale; son, Roland (Joan) of Grand Forks; granddaughters, Sheryl (Delver), Deborah (Eric), Michele (Eric), and Julie (Randy); 8 great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; very special cousins; and many loved ones. He was preceded in death by sisters, Myrtle Larson, Grace Bailey, and Esther Jucknath; and brother; Ernest.

Pallbearers were Delver Eleckson, Eric Douma, Eric Craton, David Craton, Brett Aleckson, & Reid Aleckson. Music for the funeral provided by Jamie Miller, Michele Craton, Heather Aleckson, & Deborah Douma.
