Willard "Bill" Stein, age 81, of Kimball, died Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Meeker Manor in Litchfield.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Kimball Christian Church in Kimball with Pastor Tom Kopp officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Kimball and from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Memorials are preferred to the family.

Willard Louis Stein, known to his loved ones as "Bill," was born on September 4, 1943, in Saint Cloud, to Ludwig and Helen (Getzkow) Stein. He lived his entire life at the same farmstead that he grew up on in Fairhaven Township. He graduated from Kimball High School with the Class of 1961. On December 18, 2010, Bill was united in marriage to Mary (Yurczyk) Commerford at Brighter Days Church in Burtrum.

Bill lived a life deeply rooted in his passion for farming and animals. Throughout his years, he found joy in attending rodeos, thresher shows, farm shows, and auctions, where he shared his enthusiasm for agriculture and animals with others.

Bill's love for horses was evident in the way he competed in horse shows and cherished spending time with them. He was a former member of the Forest City Threshers Club and the Kimball Saddle Club.

He resided in Fairhaven Township for his entire life, nurturing the land and animals that meant so much to him. Bill's devotion to his work as a farmer and his deep connection to his horses and cats were central to his being, shaping the legacy he leaves behind.

Bill is survived by his wife, Mary Stein; stepchildren, Bethany OneLove and John Pletcher; seven stepgrandchildren, and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ludwig and Helen; an infant brother and an infant sister; and many horses and cats.
