Wheeler Henry Pope was born August 13, 1914 in Maine Prairie Township to Henry "Sonny" and Lena (Zutz) Pope.  On November 15, 1947, he was united in marriage to Laura Scheeler at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pearl Lake.  Together, they farmed the family farm and raised their three children there.  Wheeler also worked in aircraft maintenance at the Kimball Airport.  Wheeler enjoyed tinkering, flying private planes, raising & caring for buffalo, hunting, fishing, reading, listening to music and playing the fiddle.  He was an avid outdoorsman who grew up hunting, trapping and fishing; he loved to hunt deer, ducks and turkey.  Wheeler spent his winter months spear fishing on Beaver and Pearl Lake.  He was born and raised on the family farm north of Kimball and farmed there until his retirement.  His grandchildren are carrying on the family farming legacy on the Century Farm.

Wheeler took great pleasure in being around his family and friends.  He always had a ready smile, a hearty laugh and twinkling blue eyes.  He greeted everyone with a warm handshake or hug.

He is survived by his wife Laura; children Gale (Colleen) of Kimball and Audrey of St. Cloud; 5 grandchildren Travis, Lindsay, Justin, Kylie and Audra; and 4 great grandchildren Alexis, Isabelle, Kainen and Weston; and sister in law Marie Pope of Kimball.  He is preceded in death by his son Wayne; brothers Daniel and Frank; and sister Hulda.

The pallbearers will be Travis, Justin and Kylie Pope, Lindsay Pope Clark, Scott Clark, and Audra Massetti.  A special thank you to the St. Cloud Hospital Hospice and Nancy Pendzamas of Comfort Keepers.  Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Kimball.
