Walter 'Wally' Buranen, age 83, of Kimball passed away Sunday, July 30, 2006 at the Annandale Care Center.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 3, 2006 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Annandale. Burial will follow in Our Saviour's Lutheran Cemetery, French Lake. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior to services at the Church.

Walter Robert Buranen was born June 9, 1923 at Annandale to August John and Emma (Simonson) Buranen. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and participated in the Invasion at Normandy. He married Arlene Walberg on April 20, 1946 in Minneapolis and worked 40 years as an automobile mechanic retiring in 1980 from Central AMC-Jeep, Minneapolis. He enjoyed time spent with his family, fishing, and was a member of Maple Lake VFW Post #7664.

Wally is survived by his wife, Arlene of Kimball; children, Sharon Mitchell (Tim) of Minnetonka, Bruce Buranen (Cyndee) of Elk River, Jerry Buranen (Debra), Jim Buranen (Tami) of Maple Lake, Deb Koppes (Kevin) of Minnetrista; brother, Marvin Buranen (Marvel); sister in law, Bernadine Buranen of South Haven; 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sisters, Aggie Sheldon, Ellen Walberg, Viola Balfanz and by brothers, Ervin & Elmer.

The pallbearers will be grandchildren and the music for the service will be provided by Orma Lou Jacobsma, organist and Barbara Jacobson, soloist. The arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale.
