Vi Strohschein, age 87, of Annandale died Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Park Place Cottage, Annandale.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with Funeral Services held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church, Annandale. Rev. Thomas Queck will officiate and burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale. Memorials are preferred to the Marcus & Vi Strohschein Scholarship at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Viva Sarah Strohschein was born May 6, 1924 in Middleville Township, Wright County to Robert and Martha Marohn. She was Baptized on June 1, 1924 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Middleville Township, Wright County and Confirmed on July 5, 1938 at Zion Lutheran Church, Corinna Township, Wright County. She married Rev. Marcus T. Strohschein at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on June 15, 1947. They lived near Lebanon, MO while Marcus was serving two congregations in that area. In 1949 they moved to Prior Lake as Marcus was called to serve St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Vi was a homemaker and later worked in the library of Prior Lake High School. They retired in 1984 and moved to a home on Pleasant Lake near Annandale. They were members of Zion Lutheran Church, Annandale. Vi enjoyed baking and cooking, especially for her family. She lived her life as a woman of faith in Jesus Christ and has passed that legacy on to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Vi was preceded in death by her husband on May 20, 2002 and her great grandson Henry Marcus Lundorff on August 21, 2011. She is survived by her three sons Marcus L. (Linda) of Indianola, IA, Rev. David (Karen) of Sauk Rapids, Dr. Jonathan (Robin) of Annandale, nine grandchildren Matthew, Martin & Ben Strohschein, Joy O'Donnell, Laura Thurk, Katie Lundorff, Sarah Mertens, Stephanie Braithwait, & Adam Strohschein, thirteen great grandchildren, sister Nora Bell of Minnetonka, and brother Marvin (Bernice) Marohn of Annandale.
Vi's grandchildren will serve as the pallbearers and Julie Starke will be the organist. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
