Virginia L. Viking, age 91, of South Haven died Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at the Annandale Care Center.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2008 at Zion United Methodist Church, South Haven with Rev. Heather E. Klason officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Brainerd. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the Church. Memorials are preferred to Zion United Methodist Church or Annandale Care Center.
Virginia Lucille Viking was born June 15, 1917 at Brainerd to Edward John and Mae Lucille (Wilson) Ebinger. She graduated from Brainerd High School and in 1937 from St. Cloud Teachers College. Virginia taught school for 25 years, the last five in South Haven retiring in 1963. She married Robert Lee Viking on February 10, 1943 in Brainerd and he preceded her in death on January 27, 2008. She was a member of United Methodist Women and Zion United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher and Youth Fellowship Leader. She volunteered at the Annandale Senior Dining Center and enjoyed reading, traveling, cooking, and baking.
She is survived by her son, Robert Viking & his wife Nancy of Woodbury; two nephews, Kevin Kapus of Colorado Springs, CO, Glenn (Sherri) Kapus of Castle Rock, CO; and sister, Muriel Strasburg of Anaheim, CA. Her husband, grandson, Eric Johnson Viking, and sisters, Donna Kapus & Joyce Wels preceded her in death.
The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
