Virginia A. Newman, age 86, of Sterling Park Commons, Waite Park died Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at the Annandale Care Center.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Zion United Methodist Church, South Haven with Rev. Heather Klason officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and at the Church one hour prior to services. There will be a prayer service 7 p.m. Friday.
Virginia Arlene Newman was born August 30, 1922 in Fair Haven Township, Stearns County to William and JoHanna (Ziegenbein) Randall. She married Ralph Newman on March 15, 1941 in St. Cloud and he preceded her in death on October 30, 1986. For the past 3 years Virginia has lived in Waite Park previously living in Annandale, Becker, and St. Cloud. She was a homemaker and a former member of the Moose Lodge Women of the Moose. She enjoyed doing volunteer work at the Becker Library and Becker Schools. Virginia made the best homemade bread in the world.
She is survived by her children & their spouses, Beverly & Clarence Laabs of Fair Haven, Karen & Dean Mozena of Kimball, Daryl & Jeanne of St. Cloud, Ronald of St. Cloud; 12 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. Her husband, a great granddaughter, 3 sisters, and 5 brothers preceded her in death.
The pallbearers will be Bryan, Aaron, & Bill Newman, Ricky & Randy Laabs, and Dale Mozena. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
